Mä oon Jere Luomala, toisen vuoden opiskelija ja tämän vuoden kopo, eli virallisemmin koulutuspoliittinen vastaava. Nyt on jälleen se aika vuodesta, kun tuutorihaku on käynnissä, ja haluaisin muistuttaa teitä siitä sekä kertoa vähän omista kokemuksistani!
Itse päätin omien fuksiviikkojeni aikana, että haen tuutoriksi. Omassa fuksigaalassani löinkin asiasta ystäväni kanssa kättä päälle ja siitä se sitten lähti. Toimin tosiaan tuutorina syksyllä 2025, joten voin kokemuksesta sanoa, että se todella on ihmisen parasta aikaa, tai ainakin minulle se oli! Jos siis yhtään mietit, hakisitko vai et, niin kannattaa ehdottomasti hakea. Tuutorina toimiminen on ehdottomasti yksi parhaista tavoista päästä mukaan aktiivitoimintaan, tutustua uusiin ihmisiin ja luoda ihania muistoja.
Miksi halusin tuutoriksi?
Minulla oli hyvät tuutorit, ja sain heiltä paljon apua opintojeni alussa. Olen aina tykännyt ihmisistä ja etenkin uusiin ihmisiin tutustumisesta. Halusin varmistaa, että uusilla fukseilla on yhtä ikimuistoinen fuksisyksy kuin minullakin oli, ja että he pääsevät heti kiinni siihen, miten mahtavaan opiskelijayhteisöön he ovat päässeet täällä Finanssilla.
Omana tuutori syksynäni, kun syyskuun alussa koittivat ja kauan odotetut sekä jännitetyt fuksiviikot niin muistan olleeni samaan aikaan innoissani mutta minua myös stressasi paljon. Mutta fuksipäivänä, kun pääsin tapaamaan ensimmäiset fuksit, jännitys kuitenkin raukesi, ja sen jälkeen kaikki sujui kuin tanssi. Kyllä minunkin tuutorointi taipaleeseen kuului mokia, epävarmoja sekä haastavia tilanteita, mutta suurimmaksi osaksi asiat sujuivat hyvin ja minulla oli hauskaa. Käteen tuutoroinnista jäi uusia kavereita, ihania muistoja ja halu jatkaa aktiivitoimintaa.
Varastin tämän osan täysin edeltäjältäni, joka puolestaan lainasi oman edeltäjänsä viisaita sanoja. Vuoden 2023 kopoa Jannea siteeraten: ”Kannattaa myös muistaa, että tuutorointi on todella hauskaa ja palkitsevaa, mutta siihen kuuluu myös paljon vastuuta. Joku filosofi sanoi kerran, että rankka työ vaatii rankat huvit.”
Tuutorointia ei kannata turhaan pelätä tai jännittää, se kyllä luonnistuu teiltä kaikilta. Tärkeintä on, että asenne on oikea ja että on aidosti kiinnostunut tuutoroinnista!

I’m Jere Luomala, a second-year student and this year’s Head of Academic Affairs (Kopo). It’s that time of the year again when tutor applications are open, and I’d like to remind you about it and share some of my own experiences!
I decided already during my own freshman weeks that I wanted to apply to become a tutor. At our freshman gala, my friend and I shook hands on it, and that’s where it all started. I worked as a tutor in the fall of 2025, and based on my experience, I can honestly say it was the best time of my life – or at least it was for me! So if you’re even slightly wondering whether you should apply or not, you definitely should. Being a tutor is one of the best ways to get involved in student activities, meet new people, and create amazing memories.
Why did I want to become a tutor?
I had great tutors myself and received a lot of help from them at the beginning of my studies. I’ve always liked people, especially getting to know new ones. I wanted to make sure that the new freshmen would have just as unforgettable a first autumn as I did, and that they would immediately feel part of the amazing student community we have here at Finanssi.
During my own tutoring autumn, when the long-awaited and slightly nerve-wracking freshman weeks finally began in early September, I remember feeling excited but also quite stressed at the same time. However, on the first day, when I got to meet the freshmen, my nerves disappeared, and after that everything went smoothly. My tutoring journey also included some mistakes, uncertain moments, and challenging situations, but for the most part things went well and I had a lot of fun. What I gained from tutoring were new friends, wonderful memories, and the motivation to stay active in student life.
I completely borrowed the next part from my predecessor, who had borrowed it from theirs. Quoting Janne, the Head of Academic Affairs in 2023: “Tutoring is really fun and rewarding, but it also comes with a lot of responsibility. As some philosopher once said: hard work requires great fun.”
There’s no need to be afraid of or nervous about tutoring – you’ll do just fine. The most important thing is having the right attitude and a genuine interest in being a tutor!
